The address of this house brings about a peculiar contrast in the awkward combination of the two words. The seventh locker among the 999 others in a town ‘surrounded by clouds’ (literal translation of Unjung-dong).
The current state of the land would fit better with the numbers of the address rather than the poetic name of the town. The land is a direct product of a monotonous latticed housing land development that spread to Gangnam, Bundang, Ilsan, and the like in the past. Over a lot lies another lot exactly like the one before it, with lots laid out like a Petri dish, and each dish carries its own unique sculpture, each trying to claim its own identity. Could the process of discussing prospects and searching for the value of the place, and establishing a new community be possible in such a place? Even though the townhouses are the product of recent urban projects, with very different grounding and density from more expansive apartments, they are still compared to them. This is probably why architects seem to have some sort of duty when it comes to works that propose a new type of modern housing, while overcoming current standards.
