Tyrolean Hydropower AG / Bechter Zaffignani Architekte

The Tyrolean Hydropower AG in Silz is designed as a solid, independent stand-alone building. The dominant building of the complex is the turbine building, which is affected by various crops in its dimensions and the volumetric perception.

The high-energy processes in the interior of the building to the outside thus not readable. The materials and colors of the building makes reference to other structures in hydraulic engineering. Concrete than a technically perfect building material in power brings to the enormous potential forces sufficient resilience, is like no other material for safety and Langlebigkeit.Die dark brown
Color refers to the dynamic components of the power generation. Pressure pipes, turbines, and transformers are made of metallic materials, which are obtained from ores. The same materialization also receives the visitor center as a single-storey, elongated structure shifts from the heaped plateau and opens out to full width to the street. The functional basic idea is based on a vertical stacking of the individual functional areas. Each functional unit is organized on one level.

The connection between the inner and the outer structure is made by stainless steel inserts and steel shear pins. The foundation was made with a 1m thick base plate that is anchored in addition to the earthquake load case by tension piles.
